    Project Engineer

    The Project Engineer at our Jackson Center Extrusion Development Center plans and prepares development projects and interfaces with customers and marketing to determine project needs and technical feasibility. The Project Engineer also procures necessary tooling for our manufacturing sites. As a development center we are the first face of Plastipak with our customers and new customers ensuring the packaging they are looking for meets their standards and expectations before they move into manufacturing and filling plants.

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for leading product development engineering teams, ensuring assigned project goals and objectives are achieved while following Plastipaks established development procedures.
    • Responsible for leading cross-functional teams that coordinate the activities of other groups for the successful introduction of new products.
    • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
    • Coordinate the collection and dissemination of technical information between/within the company and customer.
    • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
    • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
    • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer contract requirements and related specifications.
    • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
    • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design, manufacturing and test problems.
    • Manages and controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
    • Travel required up to 25%.
    • The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable to all state and federal laws.


    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree; or an Associates degree with five years experience.
    • Knowledge and use of related computer software, i.e.: SAP, MS Word, Excel and Access.
    • Strong verbal communication skills as demonstrated during the interviewing processes to effectively communicate with peers, management, customers, and vendor representatives.
