    Job Summary and Qualifications

    TRAUMA PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT COORDINATOR REGISTERED NURSE FULL-TIMEDAY SHIFT

    The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator works in collaboration with Trauma Program leadership to improve the quality of trauma care encompassing all areas and disciplines of the hospital that participate in the management of the injured patient and ensures compliance with the American College of Surgeons and Department of State Health Services trauma standards related to trauma performance improvement.

    What you will do in this role:

    • Responsible for daily management of the Trauma Performance Improvement (PI) Program including data analysis, identification of trends and issues, medical record extrapolation, and development and implementation of action plans to address identified issues
    • Oversees the daily management of trauma care throughout the facility ensuring care is consistent with established practice standards and research-based policy/procedures
    • Works in collaboration with other clinical leaders and serves as a resource specialist and assists with implementation of programs to support identified staff learning needs and system changes for improved patient outcomes and overall assurance of a high standard of care for trauma patients
    • Tracks trauma performance improvement issues from all units and disciplines and develops or assists others in developing action plans and ensures follow through on these plans
    • Provides monthly reports for PI, administration, and education
    • Serves as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care and providing trauma-related educational programs to the nurses of the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Ortho/Surgical/Trauma Unit, and other applicable departments
    • Assists the Manager of Trauma Services with injury prevention activities, programs and community outreach

    What qualifications you will need:

    • ADN required / BSN preferred
    • Texas RN license or compact license is accepted
    • Current BLS and ACLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
    • Current ENPC or PALS required
    • TNCC preferred and required within 6 months of hire
    • CEN preferred
    • Must have at least three (3) years of trauma / emergency care / critical care RN experience in an acute care hospital
    • Trauma Outcomes Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC) within 12 months of hire
