What you'll do
As the Supply Chain Planner for our Specialty Vehicles division based at our new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Charlotte, MI, you will enjoy preparing, reviewing, and tracking purchase orders through the procurement process. This will involve expediting past due parts to keep shortages to a minimum, as well as monitoring requirement dates to prevent past due situations.
Additionally, as you progress in this role, you will be given opportunities to build cross-functional expertise and business acumen, opening doors for future career growth at The Shyft Group.
You will also:- Prepare, complete, and deliver reports for purchase orders and procurement
- Input purchase order confirmations and date changes in the system
- Track inventory levels and days within the PO system
- Develop an understanding of The Shyft Group's quality processes
- Launch, schedule, defer, expedite, and cancel purchase orders in a timely manner
- Monitor and update supplier lead-times and notify suppliers of changes
- Confirm that suppliers receive purchase orders and understand expectations
- Obtain realistic delivery dates on shortages and follow-up with stakeholders
- Proactively confirm delivery schedules against orders and respond accordingly
- Monitor shortage reports, collect firm tracking, and expected delivery timing
- Validate and perform root cause for missed deliveries and excess inventory
- Monitor inventory levels and KPIs and process updates in the system
- Assist with generating inventory status reports and supporting special projects
- Resolve material replacement requests in partnership with the Quality team

What you need to be successful- High School Diploma or GED
- Two or more (2+) years of material planning experience preferred
- An understanding of the production process
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or a related discipline (Preferred)
- History of following pre-established process and safety procedures
- Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
Commitment to excellence, manufacturing quality, and high standards
Reputation for effectively handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Versatility, flexibility, and the willingness to work within constantly changing priorities - Capable of maintaining a flexible and extended work schedule
