Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Location:- Tulsa OK(Local candidates only)
- Hybrid schedule (Office: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday) Travel up to 5% (one day to multiple days) for trainings, site visits, or meetings in Columbus, OH, depending on supporting projects. Must have a valid U.S. drivers license.
- 12 months (4-month right-to-hire)
- $41-$45hr
- This role is open to US Citizens or GC Holders who reside in the Tulsa OK area, because of some government contracts it is not open to Visa Sponsorship or C2C candidates.
The Electrical Engineer role involves accurately modeling transmission system topology, including impedance and facility ratings for lines, generators, and transformers at Medium, High, and Extra High Voltages. This includes utilizing AEP-internal modeling database, PSS/E, and/or ASPEN OneLiner. The engineer will fulfill system modeling requests, collaborate on planned projects, build power flow, and perform short circuit model cases for the future transmission system. In addition, participation in planning and organizing project work activities, performing electrical transmission system analysis, protection system studies, and activities related to NERC Compliance standards are part of the responsibilities. Problem-solving skills will be applied to resolve technical issues and initiate solution techniques.
Required & Preferred Experience:- Demonstrated experience modeling transmission and generation system topology using ASPEN OneLiner and/or Siemens PSSE for Medium, High, and Extra High Voltages, including:
- Modeling inverter-based generation for wind and solar applications
- Modeling synchronous-based generation
- Modeling transmission lines, transformers, and circuit breakers
- Performing transmission system fault studies, including circuit breaker duty analysis
- Demonstrated experience with NERC Compliance Standards.
- Experience in process improvement, including process development, implementation, adherence, and training.
- Experience in comparing data from various sources, evaluating data validity, and performing clean-up activities as necessary.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Two or more years of related engineering experience.
- Individuals with a Master's or Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering may be considered for entry into the organization at this levelTop of Form
