    Position Summary:
    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Teacher Aide - Part-time - Brooklyn - Warren Street - Monday - Friday - 9a-1p.

    In this role, the successful candidate Assist Head Teacher in Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons; work with a team to provide stimulating environment and activities; encourage parent involvement; set individual goals and record anecdotal observations for each child; keep room clean; help with toileting; other various classroom duties.

    Job Responsibilities:

      • Help to serve all meals & snack assist children with eating clean up of child and eating area.
      • On occasion help with administrative duties (answering phones door security, etc.) and other miscellaneous programmatic needs
      • Maintain a cubby and drawer in orderly fashion for each child with his/her name clearly displayed.
      • Upon arrival greet all parents and children assist with transitioning children into the classroom
      • Keep toys/games clean and in good working order discard broken items inform director of needs for classroom toys/equipment.
      • Support other staff members as needed.
      • Maintain calm positive manner in all communications with children co- workers and parents.
      • Engage with the children and implement activities in a developmentally appropriate manner.
      • Help maintain daily attendance sign-in sheets and roll book.
      • Communicate thoroughly and regularly with the parents regarding all aspects of their childs activities and development.
      • Attend to all physical and emotional needs of the children in a developmentally appropriate manner
      • Keep classroom clean following specific cleaning checklist (posted in each classroom).

    HEALTH AND SAFETY
    1. Inspects children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival
    2. Inspects outdoor and indoor play areas prior to play
    3. Follows the hand washing procedures accordingly
    4. Follows the When to Wash Hands policies as posted in the classroom
    5. Follows the diaper changing / potty procedures for children accordingly and as needed
    6. Uses the Germ Box effectively
    7. Uses bleach solutions to clean toys and surfaces as required
    8. Notifies parents and director when children are sick or get hurt
    9. Files incident or accident reports accordingly and as needed
    10. Inspects fire exits and extinguishers regularly
    11. Feeds children according to their individual needs, family input, and CACFP guidelines
    12. Puts infants to sleep according to their individual schedules and takes care of infants upon awakening; every effort to prevent SIDS is made.

    2. Supervises children closely and effectively throughout the day
    3. Uses a modulated, appropriate voice

    Minimum Qualifications:
    To qualify you must have a High School diploma
    Warm caring and outgoing personality
    Ability to work well with others
    Able to create and maintain positive relationships with children parents and staff.
    Previous Experience Preferred
    Bilingual Preferred

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.00 - $16.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
