    GDIT has an opening for a Journeyman Cybersecurity Engineer position supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) in Falls Church, VA. This is an IT Service Management contract in support of the operation, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG's global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services. The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services. GECOS uses the ITIL framework as the basis for delivering quality-measured IT services to the ARNG.

    HOW A JOURNEYMAN CYBERSECURITY ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
    • Support the team to provide technical engineering best practices to guide, direct, design, plan, and develop documentation for deployment of cybersecurity operations tools like SIEM, Logs management, and the like.
    • Able to learn fast and apply the skills to effectively use cyber operations tools like Elastic Search, Splunk
    • Apply practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
    • Actively participate in all meetings such as, but not limited to weekly staff meetings, weekly training, etc.
    • Support focus teams or specialized projects to promote rapid improvement turnaround.
    • Maintains a high-level of customer service focus, exhibiting expertise, courtesy, timeliness, and professionalism while interfacing with users and senior staff members in person, on the phone and/or email.
    • Analytically inclined with attention to detail and accuracy and consistent follow-through to assure problems are resolved.
    • Analyzes and recommends alternative solutions to meet customer needs.
    • Builds credibility and trust with customers and team members.
    • Identifies areas of opportunity to improve customer satisfaction.
    • Supports the team process and participates on cross-functional teams.
    • Responsible for handling after-hours on call support (when necessary).
    • Answer phones and respond to emails in a timely manner.
    • Participate in special projects as required.


    WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

    Education/Equivalent Training Required:
    • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, computer science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
    • Experience with IT architecture/information systems compliance RMF Special publications, systems controls, enhancements, assessment procedures, implementation plan, system security plan (SSP) and the understanding of eMASS processes and procedures


    Years of relevant experience:
    • 5+ years of overall demonstrated experience in IT, cybersecurity, information assurance or computer science.


    Skills/Additional Requirements:
    • At least 2+ years Red Hat Linux engineering.
    • At least 2+ years Windows Server Administration/engineering
    • Apply DISA STIGs and use of SCAP/SCC Scans tools (4 years)
    • CCRI & RMF (Processes/Procedures/Documentation)
    • Some PowerShell, Python, BASH scripting - (Nice to have all)
    • TLS, SSL Certificates
    • 2+ years of SIEM experience (Prefer Splunk and Elastic Search)
    • Apache Kafka/Confluent - (Nice to have)
    • VMware ESXi Virtualization knowledge/experience
    • Storage experience (NetApp, SAN, etc.)
    • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities, including understanding user requirements, troubleshooting technical issues, successfully resolving issues and challenges, and developing creative solutions for process improvement.
    • Dependability, in that the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve.
    • Must have customer service experience as this position will require candidate to engage with senior military and government leadership.
    • Must be able to present your ideas clearly through briefings, meetings, and interaction with leadership of different skill sets.

    Certification Requirements:
    • Must Possess the appropriate baseline certification(s) to achieve DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II (Security+ CE)
    • Will need to obtain an additional certification within six-month of hire to include one of the CSSP sections certifications (i.e., CEH, CCNA-Security, CND, etc.). Candidate may have further discussions with the program's Cyber Security Manager for more details.


    Clearance Requirements:
    • Must have a minimum of an active Secret clearance at time of interview and candidate must maintain active clearance.


    Work Location:
    • 3170 Fairview Park Drive, Falls Church, Virginia
    • Hours and days TBD upon hire. May require occasional shift in work schedule to cover tasking.
    • Requires on-site support for first 3 months and if performance is good, telework can be considered part time, but no more than 2 day a week. Could change to full time on site on direction by the government.


    Travel:
    • Less than 10%.
