Description:
The Piedmont Rockdale Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU 20 Beds) Team provides subspecialty care and comprehensive services for at-risk and medically fragile newborns in a comfortable, supportive environment. It features advanced technology, enhanced space around incubators for easy access, and special lighting controls. Neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, specialized nurses, and respiratory therapists help newborns gain the strength needed to begin life outside the hospital. The team may also include a trained neonatal transport team that uses a specially equipped vehicle to provide services throughout the region.
Piedmont Rockdale Hospital - has a Level III NICU designation. This means we have the capability to provide comprehensive care for infants ranging from extremely low birth weight to full-term requiring specialized interventions. The unit also provides advanced respiratory support, advanced imaging and access to pediatric medical subspecialists such as pediatric cardiologists and pediatric neurologists.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursing program
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing program eligible
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
BLS certification required.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
For PRN positions: One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred
Bachelors degree preferred
Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
