    Direct Support Professional

    Aveanna Healthcare is currently hiring Direct Care Workers (DCW) or Direct Support Professionals in support of various facilities and/or residential programs.     JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Working in the home/community environment you are responsible for the delivery of quality one on one services to consumers while implementing their goals as outlined in the Person-Centered Plan. Your care may also involve activities of daily living and communication with other members of the consumers multi-disciplinary team.

    You are required to complete all documentation in accordance with state and program regulations, Aveanna Healthcare policies and procedures, and any applicable accreditation standards.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Performed under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and/or appropriate supervisor, who will be responsible for the client care you
    • Helps the client to maintain good personal hygiene including bathing, shaving, grooming, and dressing.
    • Assists in maintaining a healthy, safe environment
    • Assists the client with transfers and ambulation with or without an assistive device
    • Provides medication reminders
    • Encourages the consumer to become as independent as possible according to the nursing care plan
    • Attempts to promote clients mental alertness through involvement in activities of interest
    • Gives simple emotional and psychological support to the client and other members of the household

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • High school graduate, GED or equivalent of education and training
    • Clearances or Certification as required by state law and regulation
    • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation and compliance with aide care and policies and procedures
    • Completion of all applicable health screening(s)
    • A minimum of two satisfactory references and background screenings
    • Valid Drivers License and Acceptable MVR

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English
    • Must have reliable transportation
    • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling, up to 25 pounds
    • Must be able to sit and climb stairs
    • Must be able to sufficiently reposition patients
    • Must be able to appropriately respond physically and mentally to emergency situations in the onsite or during transport, such as perform one-man CPR for a prolonged period.
