    Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a Civil/Structural Engineer with responsibility for reviewing civil and structural designs of new and existing power generation projects including wind, solar, hydro, and thermal projects as an Independent Engineer.

    The candidate is a team member supporting project managers during transactional due diligence reviews. Primary responsibilities include subject matter expertise in the overall civil, geotechnical, hydrological, and structural designs, review of the application of the appropriate design codes applicable to the project under review, review of EPC Contract specifications, review of design and equipment manufacture drawings and calculations prepared by others, providing Owners Engineering and Advisory support, and monitoring of construction projects. Other opportunities within the role may include assisting the team in support of managing projects, developing sales proposals, and technology/bankability reviews.

    Hybrid: This position allows for a Hybrid working setup, with at least three (3) days in person at a Leidos managed office each week.

    Location: Ideal candidate would be located within commuting distance of Denver CO or Framingham MA area, although teleworking arrangements will be considered.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Support project managers during transactional due diligence
    • Subject matter expertise in civil and structural design, review of EPC Contract specifications, review of drawings and calculations by others
    • Providing Owners Engineering and Advisory support
    • Assist the team in support of managing projects, developing sales proposals, and technology reviews
    • Other duties as assigned

    What Sets You Apart: (Basic Qualifications)

    • Junior Level: Bachelor's of Science degree in civil or structural engineering with two plus (2+)years of experience working on industrial, power delivery, or power generation project design or other relevant experience
    • Mid-Level: Bachelor's of Science degree in civil or structural engineering with four plus (4+)years of experience working on industrial, power delivery, or power generation project design or other relevant experience
    • Senior Level: Bachelor's of Science degree in civil or structural engineering with eight plus (8+)years of experience working on industrial, power delivery, or power generation project design or other relevant experience
    • Design experience with increasing responsibility.
    • Field engineering experience during the construction of projects.
    • Team player with ability to communicate effectively with internal staff such as Project Managers and Subject Matter Experts from other disciplines, as well as with external parties such as Owners, Developers, Lenders, investors and manufacturers.
    • Experience providing high level reviews of engineers finite element analysis models, hand and software generated calculations, design drawing packages, and the overall design basis/methodology selected and deployed related to peer reviews, fatal flaw reviews, conformance to industry standard practices, conformance to appropriate design codes, and conformance with project specifications.
    • Competent with the various governing design codes used in civil, structural, and geotechnical design, such as the International Building Code (IBC), ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC, AISI, and others. Familiarity with international codes a plus.
    • Excellent and established oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
    • Familiar with structural software including finite element analysis software such as STAAD or RISA 3D. Familiarity with MathCAD, AutoCAD, and other structural analysis softwares a plus.
    • Self-starter, with the ability to work both independently or as part of a team.
    • Ability to successfully meet client deadlines under pressure. Clients requiring subject matter expertise consulting could include private equity, infrastructure and hedge funds, investment and commercial banks, private developers, legal and financial advisors, original equipment manufacturers, DOE, and EIA, among others.
    • Ability to manage schedule commitments related to multiple project reviews at one time.
    • The position requires travel related to project site visits in support of reviews. Travel could include the potential for international travel.
    • The position can periodically include weeks with extended work hours to support client(s) needs.
    • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • An active FE/EIT certification with aspiration to obtain professional engineering licensure.
    • An active professional engineers (PE) license
    • Masters degree in civil/structural engineering
    • A licensed structural engineer (SE)
    • Spanish language speaking and reading skills.
    • Familiarity with large construction projects industrial, large commercial, mechanical, and electrical systems, and/or electrical transmission and distribution experience.
    • Experience in the design of power generation projects, including natural gas combined and simple cycle, wind turbine foundations, solar racking/trackers and the pile foundations, and rooftop solar systems is a strong differentiator.
    • Familiarity with review of construction specifications and submittals.
    • Familiarity with construction documentation such as ECNs, CDs, RFIs, and NCRs

    Pay Range:

    Pay Range $55,250.00 - $99,875.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
