    SUMMARY

    The Cardiac Sonographer will perform medically prescribed diagnostic echocardiographic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics, utilizing various modes and techniques, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, M-Mode, color flow, pulse wave, and continuous wave Doppler, in accordance with accepted protocols.

    STATUS: Full Time

    LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital

    DEPARTMENT: Cardiac Care

    SCHEDULE: Weekends, Evenings, & On-Call Required

    LICENSURE

    Appropriate credential in echocardiography from: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) from American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Utilizes imaging protocols established by American Society of Echocardiography, ICAEL Echo Standards.

    • Utilizes proper patient positioning techniques to obtain optimal image quality, and to avoid injury to patient and self.

    • Manipulates imaging control settings (i.e. Gain, Focus, Focus Range, and attenuation) to obtain optimal imaging quality.

    • Accesses preliminary diagnostic report attached to procedure to formulate a preliminary interpretation for the reading cardiologist, also provides preliminary comments for each structure examined.

    • Obtains and provides previous echocardiographic studies, for reading cardiologist, for comparison with current study, if available.

    ?Programs and Procedures include:

    • Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE)

    • Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)

    • Stress Echocardiography

    • TAVR, Mitraclip, VSD and PFO Closures

    • Actively Participating in Research Studies

    EDUCATION:

    LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

    PAY RANGE:

    $33.00 - $47.00

    The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
