The Opportunity

Our location in Columbus, OH currently has an opportunity for a Scientist - Product Development Innovation.? In Research & Development, our ambition is providing innovative high-quality products, creating sustainable value, delivering superior user experience, and enhancing health outcomes at all stages of life. 

What You’ll Work On

  • Conceives, plans, designs, and conducts independent research on ingredients, formulations and processes related to the development of nutritional products.
  • Follows direction provided by project goals and experimental design.
  • Weighs ingredients and prepares research batches in the pilot plant or lab.
  • Performs batch calculations, prepares weigh sheets and manufacturing instructions. Coordinates testing. Monitors, organizes, and interprets results.
  • Draws conclusions, makes adjustments, suggests direction for, and implements improvements to formulations.
  • Recognizes problems, troubleshoots, and initiates corrective actions.
  • Communicates technical results to project teams.
  • Authors summary reports on technical findings, when applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Math, Food Engineering or related scientific field. or
  • M.S. / B.S. with 3 - 7 years relevant industry experience also considered.

Preferred:

  • Outstanding background in Science and Math. Emphasis in food and protein chemistry, emulsion stability, ingredients interactions, lipid oxidation and antioxidants, or creating similarly complex nutritional systems is desired.
  • Strong scientific curiosity and enjoys experimentation. Ability to do literature searches to inform approach to problem statements.
  • Ability to generate and translate innovative concepts into technically feasible and consumer-relevant products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate full relevance of scientific observations and to produce documents and reports. Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with data analysis software. Ability to communicate technical results to technical and non-technical audience.
  • Team oriented, with high energy and desire to achieve results. Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and meet business goals.

The base pay for this position is $64,000.00 – $128,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
