Supporting the Medical Devices U.S. Sales Division, the Strategic Pricing Infrastructure Manager leads a team of analysts that delivers complex analyses including long-term price planning, Gross-To-Net forecasting, and impact models incorporating portfolio, customer, and market landscape changes.  Partnering with the Field Force, Executive Accounts, Sales Leadership, Sales Operations, Marketing, Finance, Legal and Compliance, the candidate will be a significant contributor and influencer to build, refine, analyze, and monitor innovative solutions to maximize profitability and minimize risk throughout the product life cycle.  The position will counsel Marketing Product Managers in the planning and execution of optimal launch logistics and price strategies on new product launches for all Medical Device Divisions: Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM), Electrophysiology (EP) / Heart Failure (HF), Vascular (VAS) and Structural Heart (SH).  The candidate will possess a deep understanding of the role of Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs), facilitating the creation of contract "pre deal" and "post deal" analytics through the team, and providing substantiated recommendations for Business Unit and Enterprise Account leadership pertaining to GPO / IDN business proposals and national product launches.  The role will drive the development of metrics tied to the performance of implemented contracting and pricing strategies, utilizing all key data sets.   The Manager will guide her/his analysts to produce regular reports and executive dashboards to address evolving business questions and needs.

The candidate must exhibit strong leadership skills to ensure the team is performing well and meeting expectations for our current stakeholders and internal customers. The Manager must have the ability to comprehend and guide the team through technical challenges at a high level and to facilitate complex discussions and problem solving for items, such as database software and structures and various programming languages, e.g., SQL Server Management Studio and databases, VBA for MS Office, and SQL query language.  The Manager will have a general understanding of data extraction capabilities from SAP and other internal Medical Device databases to develop appropriate launch analytics and strategies.  This position will also play a key role on various cross-functional team projects that will require the aptitude to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.   Must work effectively in a high pressure, high-demand environment and make sound judgements on high level questions and/or issues.
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead a team of analysts (direct reports) to effectively launch and retire products, execute prices increases, and develop analytical and modeling tools to improve business analyst efficiencies and analytical capabilities
  • Influence price strategy development for newly launched products across all Business Units.  Counsel Marketing teams on existing pricing tactics within the targeted launch market.  Advise Marketing on GPO and IDN contract strategies.  Execute research gathering initiatives using highly-technical sales team surveys.  Analyze pricing and competitive intelligence research and provide recommendations to launch team leadership.
  • Proactively coordinate and maintain relationships with all BU marketing directors, excluding Neuro, concerning all upcoming product launches and retirements
  • Create and execute communication strategies developed for all product launch and retirements. Collaborate with Marketing, Contracting Management, and Sales (CSEs, AVPs, RSDs, etc.) in multiple divisions to influence and educate on the launch in general, plus specifics concerning the contracting and pricing execution plan.
  • Facilitate discussions with Marketing, Sales and Contract Operations around product retirement best practices and processes for successful execution
  • Lead discussions to gather user feedback to shape the team’s automated, analytical tools (models) to aid business deal analyses for Enterprise Accounts and National Sales teams across multiple BUs (CRM, EP, SH, VAS, HFM). Analyses include: Pricing, P&L impact, contract development and execution for large customers ranging from $50MM to $675MM in annual Total Available Market (TAM) across Medical Devices;
  • High level awareness and interest in new technologies and methodologies to leverage for internal and external projects and tools (ex. PowerBI, SQL Server, VBA, PowerApps, project management, user design processes, etc.)
  • General understanding of the following platforms and their ideal use-cases: Microsoft SQL Server platform and its related Integration Services (SSIS) packages, Business Objects, Salesforce, SAP, PowerBI
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft’s VBA scripting language and its uses to support internal tools and other automation underneath the Microsoft portfolio
  • Partner with BU leadership and marketing to execute national price increases. Requires extensive pre-increase analytics, evaluations, and guidance concerning corporate leadership approval, pricing mechanics, GPO, IDN, and Enterprise Accounts dynamics and a complex understanding of which customers are, and are not, eligible for a price increase prior to execution. Task will involve analytics of complex invoicing, contracting, and pricing post-execution to determine return on investment
  • Possess ability to manage and influence multiple relationships including Marketing, Enterprise Accounts field teams, BU field teams, peers and key relationships with external customers.  Must be able to build rapport with diverse personalities.
  • Assists with training field sales on launch strategies and policies, typically on a day-to-day, deal-to-deal basis, on tools, policies, and procedures and contractual terms.
  • Partner with Legal, Contracting Managers, Rebate Managers on contracting templates for new product launches terms and conditions and rebate programs.  This includes working with customer templates and ensuring appropriate vetting through other departments which may include IP legal, privacy, OEC, LR&C, tech services, security, finance, risk management and customer service amongst others. 
  • Perform comparisons to industry/company benchmarks to identify contracting opportunities and best practices. Work in industry leading customer space and must identify and highlight new trends to leadership as well as peer group.
  • Follows all management approved processes and procedures; alerts management when circumstances require deviation to the approved processes and procedures.  This includes understanding and complying with corporate US policies and procedures.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • Lead and performance-manage a team of direct reporting analyst across 2 sites (Austin, Alpharetta)
  • Provide coaching and feedback regularly; weekly 1-on-1’s recommended
  • Lead weekly team calls to communicate organizational and general announcements, plus coordinate on project updates
  • Manage and track current team product launches, product retirements, and other projects/tasks
  • Set, adjust, and communicate priorities to the team
  • Assess team capabilities, capacities, and internal customer requests
  • Develop and coach individual team members
  • Explore and set up training courses
  • Effectively train new and current members on new skillsets and other related items
  • Create annual team goals and cascade to team members
  • Provide annual performance reviews; participate in grade 18 calibration

  • Role will be based out of Austin, TX or Alpharetta, GA

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • MBA preferred

Minimum Experience/Training Required

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in business, finance or strategic pricing and contracting is required.  Prior experience as Abbott Medical Devices Infrastructure and Reporting Analyst or Enterprise Account Business Analyst is highly preferred.
  • Project management skills and experience to effectively lead and organize product launches, retirements, and other improvement initiatives and tools
  • High level understanding of database and computer programming concepts, plus analytical tools, such as PowerBI. SQL and VBA preferred, specifically, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
  • Awareness of advanced MS Excel skills and methodologies: VBA macros and custom functions creation, Power Query, arrays, data relationships, and Pivot Tables
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and preferably SharePoint and OneDrive
  • General SAP framework and basic pricing and reporting functions.
  • Business Objects, Salesforce, and Power BI experience preferred for analytics and reporting
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills with attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, ability to work with general supervision, must be autonomous.
  • Leadership, problem solving, and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical, strategic and problem-solving skills required.  High level technical skills to build customized analytics based on customer situation.  Ability to recognize technical needs and work to build and implement tools that can support the broader Enterprise Accounts Business Analyst team.
  • Strong quantitative & qualitative analysis skills, including experience working with large data sets
  • Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly with remote sites & business partners including building relationship with Sales personnel to be highly effective
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and problem solve to arrive at a viable solution, when challenged with complex situations and leadership/internal requests. 
  • Attention to detail is required.  Must be able to consider the broader scope when working through new contract structures and identify/address the effects it may have on other agreements and/or processes. 
  • Use of good judgment in this highly diversified, fast paced, high pressure environment.

The base pay for this position is $111,300.00 – $222,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
