Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease.The Medical Science Manager is responsible for planning, establishing, cultivating, and coordinating strategic relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), other healthcare professionals (HCPs), and internal stakeholders. This role is dedicated to advancing scientific and clinical knowledge, with a particular focus on specific therapeutic areas, to achieve both clinical and business objectives. The Medical Science Manager reports directly to the Director of Medical Affairs.What You’ll Work OnMedical and Scientific Knowledge:Maintain up-to-date scientific and clinical knowledge in specific therapeutic and disease areas.Synthesize available evidence related to therapies and develop strategic recommendations based on gap analysis and understanding of clinical unmet needs.Deliver fair-balanced and objective clinical and scientific data responses to HCPs, payors, and patient organizations in response to unsolicited requests for information on the use of company therapies.Proactively engage and lead scientific exchanges with KOLs and other key stakeholders to share clinical insights, emerging data, and developments related to scientific advancement and therapeutic areas.Lead the plan for clinical data and scientific message dissemination, coordinating with clinical, marketing, medical affairs, and public affairs.Attend scientific conferences/ medical meetings and symposia, engage in discussions, and cultivate professional relationships.Provide input to management regarding alternative therapies, business development opportunities/risks, and HCP feedback.Advisory Boards:Manage medical and scientific advisory boards to capture KOL insights and translate them into medical strategy to guide & support critical business objectives.Clinical Research:  ISS / AV Sponsored Trials.Point of contact for ISS: identify unmet clinical areas, support submission to SRC and coordinate with ISS program manager, ensure compliance throughout study life cycle.Provide scientific input into company-sponsored trials, including site and investigator selection, and optimizing trial conduct.Provide disease state education pertinent to therapies. Strategic Planning / Medical Intelligence:Consolidate and interpret medical intelligence, reporting findings to internal stakeholders to inform business imperatives. Lead strategic planning and professional development, training, and support to achieve organizational goals and objectives.Partnerships:Partner with internal groups (Regulatory, Clinical, HEOR, Training/Education, Commercial, Marketing, Publications, etc.) to identify, develop, and implement strategies, and monitor their results.Collaborate with a wide range of external partners, including clinicians, scientists, clinical investigators, and KOLs to address scientific imperatives, address clinical unmet needs and advance therapeutic field.Facilitate product testing with HCPs for formative / summative testing.Provide feedback and medical input to local commercial plans and strategies.Identify and support speakers for advisory boards, symposia, and educational programs with regulatory-approved materials.Train, educate, mentor, and lead other projects impacting the organization.Key Opinion Leader Engagement:Serve as a key liaison with external HCPs, KOLs, and scientific subject matter experts.Develop and maintain key relationships with emerging KOLs.Collaborate with business leadership to create and execute KOL engagement strategy.Serve as a primary resource regarding physician scientific support.Required QualificationsMinimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Life Science. Preference is for the candidate to have an advanced degree. Minimum 5+ years with demonstrated leadership success in the following areas: clinical or scientific medical device industry or scientific pharmaceutical industry experience.
