*Job Description: *LCSW position is under the Director of the Department of Developmental and Behavioral Health and participates in programming to support mental health services and programs at Ability KC. The position includes providing psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, and counseling services to families of patients in the therapeutic preschool and pediatric/adolescent medical program, adolescents in the pediatric/adolescent medical program, adult patients and families in the adult medical rehabilitation program. Counseling services are billed services requiring training and licensure in diagnosis and treatment. The LCSW provides education and training to teachers and staff in the therapeutic preschool and to rehabilitation staff of the medical programs in psychosocial topics related to behavior, developmental milestones, family dynamic crisis management and trauma. The LCSW, as a part of the education team and medical treatment team, facilitates the student/patient goals and participates in identifying and referring to individual/family needs.

Under the administrative supervision of Department Director

1. Provide individual and family counseling services to Ability KC patients across the adult, pediatric/adolescent and preschool programs on a fee for service basis.

a. Complete initial intake assessment of relevant psychosocial factors including diagnosis.

b. Provide evidence based counseling interventions as meets the deed of patient/family served to support coping, emotional health , effective relationships and community engagement. Provides functional recommendations to support goals established with the patient/family.

c. Facilitate referral to community based mental health services as meets the needs of the .patient/family.

d. Complete timely and accurate filling of services rendered and appropriate diagnoses.

e. Complete thorough, accurate and timely documentation of services, following state guidelines on documentation.

2. Develop and facilitates educational and support groups to identified patient populations to address patient needs which may include support of coping, parenting skills, behavior management and advocacy.

3. Participate in medical team staffing and classroom staffing of patients served.

4. Provide timely resources to patients/families as meets need.

5. Collaborate and consult with program social worker services to provide psychosocial support to patients.

6. Provide in-service education to program teams on psychosocial factors, interventions and research.

7. Provide crisis intervention with Ability KC patients inclusive of crisis assessment, emphasizing MANDT procedures, identifying need for transfer to a hospital for emergency care, ensuring that person in crisis is safe. Include patient in decision making as possible; and provided support to Ability KC team members engaged in crisis management.

8. Participate fully in meeting regulatory requirements for programs such as CARF and MARC.

9. Provide consultation on emotional and behavioral functioning to program staff. Work with pediatric program staff in developing behavior plans and interventions in line with policies.

10. As a mandated reported, follow state regulation on mandated reporting requirements and provide consultation to staff on reportable incidents, and guidance through Ability KC policy.

11. Serve as consultant at large in collaboration with psychology and social work staff.

12. Participate in activities around department goals and initiatives at Director’s request.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Licensed LMSW in Missouri

LCSW licensed in Missouri required.

*Experience: *A minimum of 1 year clinical experience post license, including direct social work services required. Prefer one year experience providing social work services to adults or children with disabilities and their families.

*Skills*: :LMSW, Required skills: LMSW license, LCSW license in Missouri. Knowledge of community resources in transportation, housing and finances for adults and children. Knowledge of family dynamics and issues related to adjustment to disability. Strong organizational skills required. Basic computer skills. Strong communication skills are required.

Routine contacts include Ability KC patients, patient family members/support persons, Ability KC and program staff and visitors.
