The Maintenance Manager is responsible for providing day-to-day coordination of projects and team operations to ensure contractual commitments are met. This role emphasizes supervisory leadership as the primary focus, with hands-on support in maintenance and grounds operations as a secondary responsibility. The position will support and oversee a team of 4 Maintenance staff and 1 Grounds staff, ensuring high standards of service quality, technical performance, and customer satisfaction across all assigned facilities. 

Schedule: Hours will vary depending on jobs needed at the school. Primarily a 8:00am-4:00pm.

Supervisory Responsibilities (Primary):

Provide leadership, direction, and accountability for maintenance and grounds staff to ensure high performance and consistent service delivery.

  • Oversee daily operations and performance of maintenance and grounds teams.
  • Develop and coach staff by identifying training needs and coordinating professional development opportunities to improve skill sets.
  • Ensure accountability for performance standards and continued development of team members.
  • Monitor timekeeping, attendance, and adherence to company policies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for team members and escalate issues to the Account Manager as needed.
  • Conduct regular staff evaluations, coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, assignment, and termination of personnel.
  • Foster strong customer service skills within the team and ensure professional interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Conduct weekly visits and building walkthroughs to monitor conditions, service quality, and team performance.
  • Review all completed work orders on a weekly basis to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Review all incomplete work orders, identify gaps, and ensure follow-up and completion.
  • Coordinate and communicate with vendors performing work on-site, ensuring alignment with building schedules and expectations.
  • Partner with building administration to coordinate vendor activity and minimize disruption.
  • Ensure all facilities, grounds, and installations are regularly inspected and maintained to high standards of workmanship and cleanliness.

 

Maintenance & Grounds Responsibilities (Secondary):

Provide technical support and oversight of maintenance and facility operations to ensure effective service delivery.

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment status, service reports, and technical documentation.
  • Manage workload distribution and job scheduling to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients regarding service updates, status of work orders, and ongoing needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to team members as needed.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of construction, maintenance, and grounds operations.
  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance efforts across facilities.
  • Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulations and company standards.

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility maintenance or operations, including planning and maintaining physical facilities. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience managing teams. 
  • Proven experience managing teams, including staff development, retention, and performance management. 
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance systems, preventive maintenance practices, and facility operations. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). 
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and prioritization skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to present information to small and large groups. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. 
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy. 
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. 
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
