Job Description

Accel Therapies is looking for an experienced Billing Specialist to join our team. The Billing Specialist will interface with clinical and operations teams to manage billing and insurance activities for our ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) practice.

Responsibilities

The Billing Specialist will be responsible for full-cycle billing and revenue cycle management activities, including:

  • Inputting authorizations
  • Reviewing and submitting claims
  • Verify insurance eligibility for clients
  • Collecting patient responsibility
  • Contact insurance companies (UHC, Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, IEHP, and CalOptima) to expedite payments
  • Posting ERAs in our practice management software (CR)
  • Actively participates and coordinates procedures involving billing, coding, and Accounts Receivable resolution
  • Investigate and resolve claim rejections from clearinghouse (Office Ally)
  • Managing contracting and credentialing activities 
  • Updating the clinical and administrative teams about changing insurance requirements
  • Speaking with patients or their representatives to identify problems relating to their billing 

The ideal candidate has billing experience, a curious mind, and is highly organized. This individual will report to the Director of Operations, will interface with several departments, and should have good people and technical skills.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of healthcare billing experience required
  • AHIMA or AAPC Certification preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Proficient in Excel, using formulas and pivot tables to analyze data
  • Ability to work independently and manage large projects as well as daily and weekly tasks
