MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN 2 - OXNARD – 13460 Performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies. Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment. Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process. Works with engineers in conducting experiments. Job Details • Swiss-army knife type technician position. Technician could end up performing any number of tasks. Examples of the kind of tasks are as follows: assembling large tooling structures, using two-part epoxies for bonding, assembling small/delicate mechanical flight hardware, working with and assembling composite structures, sewing/stitching mesh fabric.
• Based on the job description what does a typical day look like? Using assigned work instructions and assembly drawings to perform an assortment of Technician tasks (see above). Knowing and understanding how to read blueprint type assembly drawings is a big plus. • What is the training process for this role? Significant on-the-job type training. Qualifications What are the top 3-5 skills / technologies and qualifications required? • Knowledge and experience with all common mechanical hand tools. • Knowledge and experience with fasteners and torquing mechanical fasteners.
• Ability to read and understand blue-print style mechanical drawings.
• An ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, ask questions and fit-it within a “team” working environment is most important.
