Network/Voice Engineer - McChord AFB WA - Secret Network Administrator who Provides Tier II Network Support. Works closely with the Network Engineer at the SIL to implement enterprise network designs and solutions, installs, configures, operates, and maintains a variety of network equipment and architectures.
Mostly packetized environments, focused on enterprise wide end to end systems (i.e. Network analysis and design, system integration, troubleshooting, testing, scripting, TCP/IPv4/6, Ethernet, ISDN/BRI/PRI, commercial SATCOM, and various other communications and network protocols, VLANs, VPN, data encryption, network management, information systems/network security, routers, switches, TCP accelerators, VoIP devices, Voice Exchange Appliances, firewalls, Windows and Linux/Unix servers, virtualized environments (VMWare), backup principle and various storage architectures and principles, premise wire and cable plant (especially with regard to TEMPEST/separation techniques and requirements), IA,DR etc.) and related ancillary systems/services.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for implementation and technical support of Cisco Unified Communications related technologies
Assist Tier-II and Tier-III engineers with ticket escalation, acting as program voice subject matter expert (SME)
Conducts technical assessments and develops solutions to complex problems
Uses vendor tooling to diagnose root causes of voice related issues
Write technical documentation on voice systems and projects
Coordinates with external voice SMEs, provides guidance on network configuration and design constraints
Upgrades to all supported VoIP / UC systems to meet cybersecurity requirements
Review work/installation progress for accuracy, adherence to network design, and conformance to telecommunications standards
Perform other Voice technology-related duties as assigned
Experience/Skills: 3+ years as a Cisco Voice Engineer
Experience with Cisco UCM, SBCs, Call Manager Express, voice gateways
Experience in modern and legacy voice protocols
Manage multi-site dial plans and call routing
Ability to understand network traffic flow in complex networks
Network diagraming and documentation (Visio)
Writes well formatted technical instructions
VMWare Network Virtualization
