HOUSING AND TRAVEL INCLUDED We average 30-40 deliveries per year. If there is not an OB patient, then it is expected that the RN will float to inpatient and take lesser acuity med/surg and BH patients. The staffing Matrix we follow is 4:1. An Alaska license is required. We do not have Respiratory therapy in house as a resource. We utilize Midwives and the ER physician is a backup but there are typically additional midwives in town and they will respond as well if there are concerns or issues. We do not induce mothers and we do not have surgical capabilities at our facility. We typically send all high risk mothers to ANC at 36 weeks if not before for their deliveries. So we typically only keep screened mothers who are healthy and aware there is not epidural/surgical services available. There are instances of preterm labor and village delivers that do occur. There is also the occasional non-compliant mother who has refused transfer to ANC when recommended by the CNM earlier in the pregnancy who wind up here. For the most part there are healthy mothers who choose to deliver closer to home and with local support services.
