The National Geospatial-Intelligence College (NGC) Instructional Systems Designers (ISDs) work with subject matter experts and clients to capture learning requirements and recommend solutions to advance their mission effectiveness. Leveraging learner-centric principles to design the experience, ISDs design synchronous and asynchronous materials, as well as performance support tools that most effectively improve performance while minimizing impact to time away from mission for learners. Building upon the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) and Successive Approximation Model (SAM) frameworks, NGC ISDs leverage their expertise and creativity to develop engaging and interactive learning experiences. The Instructional Designer Subject Matter Expert (ISD-SME) is a fulltime temporary position with a current end date of no later than 01 August 2025. Responsibilities * Building advanced courses for adult learners, specifically intelligence officers.
* Designing knowledge testing activities.
* Provide support to the Instructional Design team in developing training. Qualifications * Minimum Bahcelors's Degree in either Intelligence Studies, Security Studies, Criminology, Philosophy, Law / Legal Studies / Paralegal, Cognitive Science, Political Science, or International Relations.
* Minimum 5 years' experience building advanced courses for adult learners, specifically intelligence officers.
* Minimum 5 years' experience and deep knowledge of critical thinking, specifically the three main Dr. Paul and D Elder's models (Elements of Thought, Intellectual Standards, and Intellectual Traits).
* Understanding of the history of logic and argumentation (from its origins in antiquity to the present).
* Minimum 5 years' experience designing knowledge testing activities.
* Understanding of and experience with the ODNI ICDs.
* Understanding or experience with debate (the use of solid reasoning and compelling evidence, persuasive storytelling and skillful presentation, eloquent and civil communication).
* Understanding of the history of intelligence successes and failures (American and otherwise).
* Understanding of symbolic logic (both formal and informal).
* Understanding of cognitive biases.
* Understanding of logical fallacies.
* Understanding argument construction and deconstruction (Toulmin's Method).
* Understanding of reasoning.
* Familiarity with legal jurisprudence.
