Role Summary:

The Accounts Receivable (A/R) Credit Analyst is responsible for administering the commercial credit policy for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role analyzes customer aging reports to determine collection action plans and makes decisions and recommendations regarding credit worthiness, as well as late-stage collection strategies.

Key Duties:
  • Under the direction of the Supervisor, Credit and Collections, works directly with corporate and consumer customers for all non-transportation receivables, including dispute resolution, to ensure days sales outstanding (DSO) goals are met and bad-debt write-offs are minimized.
  • Provides input to the Accounting Specialists regarding collection action plan and determines when in-house collection efforts have been exhausted, while ensuring policy compliance and protection of booked revenue.
  • Analyzes 3rd party credit reports for all customers applying for credit with Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air and decides whether applications below $25K limit will be approved. Makes recommendations for applications requesting more than $25K or are borderline to the Dir & MD.
  • Prepares proof of claim documentation for bankruptcy proceedings and submits to Alaska Airlines legal department.
  • Prepares, organizes, and enters monthly journal entries for Alaska Air Group (AAG) including intercompany, credit card, and A/R miscellaneous entries in accordance with department policies and procedures, prepares account reconciliations.
  • Prepares QX invoices on a weekly basis and inputs information into People Soft and SIS for payment.
  • Maintains accounts related to Service Sales and Misc invoicing. This includes and not limited to contacting customers for payment.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in business, finance, or accounting, or 2 years of experience in later stage (90 days +) collection action plans or related area in lieu of this degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technical accounting procedures, including intercompany transfers, deferral processes, month end closing, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Excellent analytical skills to effectively evaluate data, identify variances, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks concurrently and within deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all customer information.
  • Excellent communication skills (e.g., written and verbal) and the ability to interact well with internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and other common applications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

 

Preferred

  • Experience with PeopleSoft general ledger and blackline systems.
  • Airline industry experience.

Salary Range: $54,100 --- $75,700 / year Salary Details:

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
