Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) in our Medical IMCU, you are a highly qualified, expert clinician who possesses advanced care skills and has demonstrated strong critical thinking skills in the face of change, intervention, and crisis. We function as a team and work hard to support the patients in our community and each other. We are looking for someone who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.
What you will do in this role:
- You will assist the Nursing Unit Director in planning, implementing and assessing the daily functions of Nursing Care and Services provided in the unit on all shifts
- You will provide supervisory and management oversight for staff members and departmental resources and processes.
- You will facilitate interventions to meet patients’ physical, psychological, spiritual, social, cultural and educational needs; coordinates functions with physicians and other departments of the hospital in a spirit that fosters positive working relationships
- You will possess excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills
- You will serve as role model, mentor, educator, and evaluator in the Critical Care area.
- You will facilitate ongoing performance improvement activities which correlate to the Hospital-wide Performance Improvement Program with involvement of all levels of staff on designated shifts as appropriate. You will make assignments for the present or following shifts to provide for smooth transition, ensuring appropriate assignments throughout shifts to cover changing patient needs and staff availability due to absences, breaks, etc.
What qualifications you will need:
- Current Alaska nursing license in good standing
- Associate’s Degree in nursing required, bachelor’s preferred
- CCRN required
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
- NIH Required
- Prefer three years clinical supervisory experience
- Minimum requirement: two years of Medical Step Down or ICU experience
- Leadership and management experience is highly desirable
