The Cost Estimator will be responsible for preparing cost estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or engineering services to aid management in bidding on or determining the price of a product or service. We are looking for an individual that can use their Cost Estimator experience to add value and make a significant impact as a Cost Estimator to NAVAIR for this opportunity. Primary Responsibilities: * Leads tasks with little or no guidance. * Analyze requirements documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project and determine what factors of production will influence the cost and schedule of a product or project. * Prepare cost estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or engineering services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service using Government Furnished Information (GFI) such as engineering documentation and technical data packages. * Compile and record actual cost data for use in estimating analysis and quick reference for future estimates of similar scope. * Support market research with historical vs. actual cost data. * May specialize according to particular service performed or type of product manufactured. Qualifications: * Experience within a manufacturing and fabrication operation, with expert knowledge in fabrication processes to accurately assess material and labor requirements of projects. * Prior experience as Machine or Fabrication Shop Supervisor/Foreman providing project cost estimates and labor & material requirements data a plus. * Ability to archive and reference relavent historical data to expedite accurate cost estimates. * Active U.S. DoD SECRET Security Clearance (Must have interim clearance before start date) * Must possess a valid Maryland Drivers License Education Required: * Junior: Bachelors degree or a qualifying substitution of 6 years experience in an engineering, technical, or business discipline. * Journeyman: Bachelors degree or a qualifying substitution of 9 years in an engineering, technical, or business discipline. Years of Experience Required: * Junior: 0-3 years of relevant experience related to estimating fabrication projects. * Journeyman: 3 + years of experience directly related to estimating fabrication projects. Work Conditions: Conditions will vary. Capable of working outdoors and occasionally from elevated work platforms with a fall protection harness and in temperatures ranging from 0-120. The position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Overtime is a requirement of this position.
