Even with treatment innovations of the last two decades, many patients with immunologic conditions continue to suffer - our goal is to fundamentally change the outcomes for these patients. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director of Accounting in a rapidly growing South San Francisco based biopharma company, reporting to the Assistant Controller. This leadership role will be a cornerstone of the accounting team, working with all leaders of the finance department, and teams across the Company. The Associate Director of Accounting will support our ability to scale and operate as a public company, by improving processes and gaining efficiencies via technology and system implementations, developing and maintaining SOX processes, and owning the bulk of the monthly Close. This individual will lead the General Ledger and AP teams and will have the opportunity to hire their direct reports.Key ResponsibilitiesMonth-End Close: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring all financial data is accurately captured and reported.Internal Controls: Establish, document, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with SOX requirements.Audit Coordination: Serve as liaison with external auditors, ensuring the timely completion of audits and addressing any issues that arise.Operations: Oversee operational areas such as Accounts Payable, and partner with Procurement, Legal, People and Culture, and other teams across the business to optimize our processes.Team Leadership: Hire, manage and mentor a small team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline underlying accounting processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the accuracy of financial reporting, with a focus on systems.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent.6-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.Experience leading and developing the Monthly Close.Strong knowledge of GAAP and SOX.Excellent at building cross-functional relationships and collaborating on or leading projects.Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proficient in process excellence and system improvements.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.Advanced Excel skillsPreferred ExperienceExperience with NetSuiteCPA or equivalentBig-4 public accounting experienceExperience at a public company in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is highly desirableAlumis ValuesElevateChallengeNurtureThis position is located in South San Francisco, CA.
