Job Purpose

The Supply Chain Management Operations Department is responsible for the oversight, standardization, and technical leadership of the internal material handling operations at the Honda automobile powertrain and final assembly sites across North America. Specifically, the liaison will support and understand how their department will support multiple functions of the manufacturing plant, such as Assembly, Bumper Paint, Paint, Weld, and our suppliers. The Liaison will also provide support to both contracted logistics companies operations including Returnable Container Operations (RCC) and track any impacts that affect the plant, reviewing the accuracy of the root cause and effectiveness of the countermeasure supplied in the problem summary by the contracted logistics companies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Plant lead for Supply Chain Operations and all contracted logistic companies on site
  • Lead management of lineside delivery calls, impacts, short part crisis and RCC functions.
  • ELP service lead for Supply Chain Operations. Responsible for coordinating with departments to ensure ELP meets monthly on time delivery targets.
  • Manages & coordinates daily shift report (summarizes SQCDME impact items for day & follow up activity items for following shift). Coordinates initial root cause analysis for all impact items.
  • Department lead for plant meetings, lead and communicate effectively with contracted logistic companies, Tire and Seat drivers.
  • Project Leader for Supply Chain Operations intercompany logistics. Coordinate daily orders and ensure shipments go out as scheduled. Coordinate daily to shipping teams.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent related experience.

Minimum Experience:

  • 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing supply chain and/or material flow

Other Job-Specific Skills:

  • Effective communication capabilities (able to communicate a problem summary to cross functional audience).
  • Broad understanding of parts flow, logistics, delivery system, and manufacturing flow
  • Comfortable in providing direction to others (Team members and internal customers) and taking on leadership role as needed.Project management experience or capability. 
  • Ability to lead meetings and Unit level themes
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Reliable and flexible.

Job Dimensions

No. of Direct Reports: 0

No. of Indirect Reports: 8 (CLC Leadership)

Financial Dimensions: 1.04M (Intra Company Shipping yearly contract and budget)

Decisions Expected

  • Line downtime root cause analysis. Work with internal departments to determine responsibility for downtime issues.
  • Late part delivery decisions. Work with Assembly and Weld departments Leads to determine if line should be shut down to wait on parts or run parts past process and repair cars online or in repair.
  • Critical transportation decisions for intra company shipping. Setting up expedites and confirming part inventories for ELP to prevent line down situations.

Working Conditions

  • This position is a mixture of open office environment and going to the warehouse or production floor.
  • Estimated amount of overtime is 5 hours per week, including when production occurs on select Saturdays.
  • No travel requirements.
