Job Description:
Software Architect with AI and Data Analytics - Onsite in Columbia, SC - W2 Only - $70/hr-$85/hr
Scope of the Project: As an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Subject Matter Expert, you will play a pivotal role in the creation and implementation of AI initiatives. This position will provide oversight and guidance for state agencies and other government entities in their use of AI. You will be responsible for developing, advising leadership, and implementing an AI program that meets the strategic goals of the organization.
Daily Duties / Responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of AI strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives. Establish a robust AI validation and approval process for use cases and vendors, ensuring compliance across the state. Drive the adoption of standardized AI processes. Establish and lead an AI Center of Excellence for the state, setting standards, providing training, and promoting best practices. Provide guidance on AI direction, opportunities, and risks. Evaluate both closed source and open source AI capabilities. Develop and maintain a high level of expertise in AI and big data, positioning the organization as a leader.

Required Skills (Ranked in Order of Importance):
- Prior leadership role in AI and big data initiatives.
- Proven experience with establishing proof of concept success criteria and evaluating AI solutions against criteria.
- Proven track record of cross-functional enterprise-level coordination.
- Strong technical skills with hands-on experience in AI tools and platforms.
- Background in a variety of programming languages and principles.
- Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, and AI.
- Familiarity with foundations of prevalent algorithms such as neural networks, transformers, and classification for natural language, image, and time series data.
- Experience with data tools and techniques for storing, retrieving, and cleaning data.
- Advanced market knowledge with proven methodology to determine emerging trends and enterprise response plans.
- Advanced report writing ability.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven experience with executive briefings, presentations, and other relevant public speaking.
Preferred Skills (Ranked in Order of Importance):
- Previous experience with government or large organizations.
Required Education/Certifications:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
