The Patriot missile system is the primary surface-to-air missile used by the military. It requires strong attention to detail and highly skilled individuals to ensure it’s ready at any time.

As a Patriot Fire Control Enhanced Operator/Maintainer for the Army National Guard, you will maintain the systems within the Patriot, including the radar set, engagement control station, electronic power plant, antenna mast group, and battle command post. You will also be responsible for identifying, tracking, and combating those identified threats using an advanced interceptor missile capable of destroying enemy air threats at a moment’s notice.

Job Duties
• Responsible for the movement and placement of the Patriot Fire Control systems in various locations and environments
• Operate Patriot Fire Control electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical components
• Evaluate intelligence and identify targets; perform real-time status reporting during combat
• Engage identified enemy targets threatening friendly forces
• Establish and maintain digital, radio, and wire communications networks

Job training for a Patriot Fire Control Enhanced Operator/Maintainer requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and in the field under simulated combat conditions.
