Position Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: $75,000 – $80,000 annually (based on experience)

 

Position Summary

Southern Mechanical is seeking an experienced Plumbing Superintendent to oversee plumbing operations on multifamily construction projects.  This role is responsible for supervising field operations, coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules and materials, ensuring code compliance, and maintaining a safe and productive jobsite.

 

Who Will Be Successful in This Role?

The ideal candidate is a hands-on plumbing leader with multifamily construction experience who thrives in the field, understands project scheduling and production demands, and can effectively manage subcontractors, materials, and jobsite operations while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

 

This position requires at least 5 years of Plumbing Superintendent experience and direct experience managing plumbing operations on multifamily construction projects. Candidates without multifamily plumbing leadership experience may not be considered.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

Please apply only if you meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Plumbing Superintendent
  • Experience overseeing plumbing work on multifamily construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Underground plumbing systems
    • Top-out operations
    • Sleeve layout
    • Plumbing codes and construction practices
  • Experience supervising subcontractors and coordinating field activities
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore or similar)
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic reporting
  • Valid Driver's License
  • OSHA 30 Certification, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Raken or similar field reporting software
  • Experience using total station layout systems
  • Experience managing multiple multifamily projects simultaneously

 

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Project Execution

  • Oversee daily plumbing operations on multifamily construction projects
  • Supervise and coordinate plumbing subcontractors and field personnel
  • Verify underground rough-in installations and ensure measurements are accurate
  • Monitor work quality and ensure compliance with project specifications

Scheduling & Production

  • Maintain project schedules and support on-time project completion
  • Forecast labor and material needs to maintain production goals
  • Anticipate material requirements 2–3 weeks in advance
  • Identify and resolve field issues that may impact productivity or timelines

Materials Management

  • Track and manage material deliveries and inventory
  • Ensure materials are available to support ongoing construction activities
  • Utilize web-based inventory and project management systems

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment
  • Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and plumbing codes
  • Address safety concerns promptly and proactively

Project Communication

  • Participate in daily and weekly coordination meetings
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and timekeeping records
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions effectively

Technology & Reporting

  • Utilize Procore, Raken, and related software for project tracking and reporting
  • Complete daily reports and maintain accurate project records
  • Monitor project performance and support continuous improvement efforts
