This LPN opportunity at Bishop Gadsden (James Island) is to provide quality nursing care to residents in a Memory Care setting through professional and pleasant interaction.  Our LPNs carefully assess and evaluate the well-being of residents and take accurate action. The successful candidate will have compassion for and the desire to work with the elderly. 


A Typical Day:



  • Interact with staff, residents, families, and physicians to provide optimum care for each resident

  • Observe and document any significant changes in residents’ mental or physical condition and communicate to Myers Hall Manager, physician, and family or designee

  • Facilitate administration of medications according to established procedures and in a timely manner

  • Perform resident treatments as required

  • Follows the established procedures for entering and checking physician orders in the EHR

  • Participate in and document admissions and transfers

  • Oversee the accurate administration of medications by Med Techs, through direct supervision and “hands on” guidance and informal teaching

  • Complete assigned monthly charting on time

  • Appropriately respond to emergencies and triage as needed

  • Accurately take off physicians’ orders and correctly enter them into EHR

  • Ensure the accuracy of documentation on all resident Medication Administration Records (MARs)

  • Participate in staff in-service education as both a participant and/or educator

  • Participate in quality assurance and record audits as requested

  • Respect rights and privacy of each resident while fulfilling responsibilities for their medication and care

  • Demonstrate a helpful attitude and assistance with problem solving

  • Follow up on resident appointments, outstanding orders, and lab results

  • Consistently demonstrate professionalism and clinical skills


What We Need In A Candidate:



  • Must be licensed (LPN) by the state of South Carolina and in good standing with a current active license

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, squat, climb, reach above head, carry, and lift (up to 50 lbs.).

  • Ability communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written in English

  • Ability to read and comprehend numbers and written material in English

  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor at all times.

  • Ability to work independently with proper direction.

  • Able to perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely, and professional manner

  • Able to understand, comprehend, and communicate with older adults, peers, subordinates, and supervisors
