Blue Rose Consulting Group is seeking compassionate and experienced Independently Licensed Behavioral Health Counselors to join our team in support of our work with a federal client in Big Bend, Texas This role is open to US Citizens ONLY. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting initial assessments and mental health evaluations for unaccompanied minors. This is a position supporting unaccompanied minors, which means that you may spend time working with several diverse types of clients. In this role, you will observe the physical environment, individual interactions, and verbal and nonverbal cues related to assessing child well-being concerns to ensure appropriate interactions between facility staff, and children. You will also work with them to identify opportunities for progress, help them build healthier coping mechanisms, and develop strategies that they can use to improve their lives. To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication skills. Additionally, you will need to have a strong understanding of the distinct types of issues that these minors may be facing, their causes and how they can best be resolved. RESPONSIBILITIES * Assist unaccompanied minors in defining the problems that they are facing * Conduct focused assessments for individuals to screen for symptoms, conduct a formal behavioral status exam to determine the need for crisis intervention related to human trafficking and similar trauma issues * Apply knowledge of the best practices for treating a variety of problems that clients may be experiencing * Crisis counseling as needed * Proactively engage with children to support their well-being, including identifying children in distress or at risk of distress * Use information gained from assessments to coordinate immediate interventions and case management activities as necessary to support a child's well-being * Provide focused intervention for identified higher risk minors
* Provide brief, ongoing education during and provide facility staff requested tools to respond to specific situations with children, highlight success stories, and provide other insights into culturally sensitive care
* Educate clients on the problems they are facing and help them to develop healthier coping methods * Maintain detailed notes and shift reports * Other duties as assigned in support of the program REQUIREMENTS * Must be a U.S. Citizen * Master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA) * Candidates must hold an independent level counseling license in the state of Texas. * Typical licenses include LCSW, LMFT, LMHC. * Must successfully pass all pertinent and required background checks, drug screens, and child abuse and neglect checks * Excellent interpersonal skills and high standards of professionalism and confidentiality * Working knowledge of state, federal, and local laws, and resources * Ability to understand, apply and maintain professional standards * Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook * Highly developed written, oral and presentation communication skills * Bilingual highly preferred - primarily Spanish Salary: $70,000 - $75,000
