Thank you for considering a career at Bon Secours!Scheduled Weekly Hours:40Work Shift: Days/Afternoons (United States of America)CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER - GREENVILLE MARKET | Greenville, SC Summary:The Chief Medical Officer is responsible for the strategic leadership, growth, and operational oversight of one or more medium and/or large hospitals; specifically the innovation of practices; safety, quality and compliance of patient care; community outreach and population health; financial accountability; medical staff relations; and achieving the mission and performance standards of the hospital(s), as measured against approved goals and objectives established by the Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) Executive Leadership Council.  Serves as primary liaison between physicians and administration, and board. The CMO is also the VPMA for assigned location and serves as an advisor of Medical Affairs office, coordinating throughout the market. Includes responsibility for peer review, credentials and clinical privileges, physicians’ behavior and other problems, medical staff committees, and bylaws. Also includes physician performance (quality and utilization) and physician’s profiles. Coordinates with Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Directors of Quality and Case Management and the Executive Team to achieve overall key performance indicator targets.Essential Functions:- Utilizing a blend of strategic and operational leadership, the Market Chief Medical Officer (MCMO) leads the development and implementation of programs and services of assigned facilities including but not limited to ambulatory, acute, and post acute. - The MCMO serves as an advisor on medical staff credentials issues for medical staff officers and departmental chairpersons, medical staff office- Partners with market CNO by continually driving quality improvements, improving patient outcomes, and implementing strategies to improve the patient experience.- Ensures adherence to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, and compliance with all regulations governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies, by continually monitoring the operations of the hospital(s) and proposing changes when required.- Work requires highly developed interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively with physicians, employees and a wide range of external contacts (e.g., board members, non-employed physicians, government officials and community groups.)  Ability to understand and have a “sense of the appropriate” in difficult situations is required.- Optimizes the utilization and availability of resources, including people, capital and knowledge to achieve the objectives of the organization while fostering a culture of trust, high reliability, safety and quality.  Provides input to staffing and resource planning in direct and indirect reporting departments as they affect operations of the facility.- Represents the hospital(s) and the BSMH ministry as appropriate in relationships with governmental agencies, professional or trade associations, partners, competitors, elected officials, fund raising entities, other providers, and other similar external groups.- Works extensively with the medical staff, especially through medical executive committees and medical department leaders, as a means of enhancing clinical services and ascertaining the appropriateness and quality of hospital services to respond to patient needs.  Confers with the medical staff in the areas of medical quality assurance and utilization to ensure mutual understanding of expectations and to obtain ideas to further progress in meeting the BSMH mission. - Ensures that the responsibility, authority and accountability of all direct reports are defined and understood in a manner consistent with the organization’s focus and direction.REQUIRED:- Medical Degree and Board Certification- Valid license to practice medicine in South Carolina or eligibility to attain license.- A minimum of 5 years of experience in health care leadership (ie: acute care hospital, medical center, integrated delivery system), dependent upon the volume and complexity of the assigned hospital(s).- Demonstrated results in applying strategic and analytical ability to conceptualize and implement short and long term plans and goals of a large organization in a highly complex operational environment.  Background in operations leadership with results in operational improvement.  Ability to articulate a working knowledge of the major financial, regulatory, compliance, ethical, and legal issues affecting the healthcare industry.PREFERRED:- A visible and highly regarded community leader; an active participant in civic activities with willingness to invest time and resources.Bon Secoursis an equal opportunity employer.Many of our opportunities reward* your hard work with:Comprehensive, affordable medical, dental and vision plansPrescription drug coverageFlexible spending accountsLife insurance w/AD&DEmployer contributions to retirement savings plan when eligiblePaid time offEducational AssistanceAnd much more *Benefits offerings vary according to employment status.Department: Administration - St. Francis - DowntownIt is our policy to abide by all Federal and State laws, as well as, the requirements of 41 CFR 60-1.4(a), 60-300.5(a) and 60-741.5(a).
