This role will be relied upon to be a thought leader, to educate operational teams and train team members on emerging techniques for data modeling that will increase efficiencies in the reporting and analytical space.Essential Job FunctionsThe Senior Consultant will be an expert and lead the data model product build/deployment/servicing for all new enterprise reporting and analytic needs. The Senior Consultant will support multiple centers of excellence including process automation, new tool adoption, interaction analysis, data governance and enterprise reporting. Essential job functions include successful design and execution of Planning, Development, and Support functions. The Senior Consultant will be an expert of the toolsets used, including but not limited to SQL, DB2, Governed DataMarts, Reporting layer databases, data cubes, ETL process, etc. The Senior Consultant will have an expert understanding of business requirements & will own the entire data model design lifecycle (Conceptual to logical to physical). The Senior Consultant role leads the identification of data gaps and inefficiencies, while keeping the team members up to date on industry trends. This role is accountable for leading high performing planning, development, and support functions.Planning- The Senior Consultant will establish and execute the framework for engaging enterprise partners to understand opportunities and level of effort in order to plan new data models. Senior Consultant will present and gain support from the various governance teams and IT teams to plan the work. The Senior Consultant role will lead the vision for the reporting/analytics data models, manage and prioritize needs and perform market research to ensure continuous improvement and deployment of market-leading, innovative solutions. The Senior Consultant will work proactively & independently to address project requirements, and articulate issues/challenges with enough lead time to address project delivery risks. Interface with Data governance teams to leverage central data repositories. Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions. Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts. Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies. This role is accountable for throughput performance of moving work through the Planning process with a focus on duration, effort, and optimized prioritization.Develop and Maintain- The Senior Consultant will design, build & maintain the Data Warehouse, Operational Data Stores & other data assets. Work with the Design and Build team to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual, logical and physical data models that ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy. Guide System Analysts, Developers, Data Stewards and others on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. The Senior Consultant will have an expert ability to capture and communicate complex mappings, transformations, calculations, look ups, joins and business rules. The Senior Consultant will have an expert understanding of ETL processing and tuning data structures for performance.Documentation/Reporting- Maintain the existing data warehouses and Design subject area wise data marts / cubes to facilitate aggregation, slicing and dicing of data by reporting tools such as Micro Strategy. Optimize & Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata to support new and existing projects. Quality Assurance- Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models. Validate business data objects for accuracy and completeness.
