Brown Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced and collaborative Medical Director Veterinarian to lead our AAHA-accredited small animal practice in Peoria, Illinois. This is an exciting opportunity for a veterinarian who enjoys surgery, mentoring others, practicing high-quality medicine, and helping grow a well-established hospital.
We're looking for a leader with a growth mindset, someone who is passionate about building strong client relationships, developing team members, expanding medical and surgical services, and creating an exceptional experience for both clients and patients.
As Medical Director, you'll partner closely with hospital leadership to guide the medical direction of the practice while continuing to practice medicine alongside a collaborative and supportive team.

Our salary ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The Company offers competitive compensation along with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision benefits, vacation, sick leave, 401(k), and more depending on location. You will be provided more detailed information about compensation and benefits for your specific location. What You'll Do
- Provide medical leadership while maintaining an active clinical caseload
- Perform routine and advanced soft tissue surgeries
- Mentor and support associate veterinarians and support staff
- Promote medical excellence and uphold standards of patient care
- Partner with hospital leadership to support hospital growth and strategic initiatives
- Foster a collaborative, positive, and high-performing culture
- Build lasting relationships with clients and the surrounding community
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) from an accredited veterinary school
- Active (or eligible) Illinois veterinary license
- Previous leadership or mentorship experience preferred
- Strong soft tissue surgical skills
- Passion for coaching, collaboration, and team development
- Growth mindset with a desire to help expand the practice
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to progressive, evidence-based medicine
