Monte Package Company, a Bunzl company, is seeking a Mechanical Packaging Service Representative to be based out of our Lakeland, Florida facility. The Mechanical Packaging Service Representative is responsible for safely maintaining, repairing, replacing, and modifying company-owned and customer-owned packaging machinery to ensure optimal quality and efficiency. This role requires extensive travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain packaging machinery such as case erectors, tray formers, bliss machines, corner post machines, case sealers, and stitchers.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues, implementing effective solutions and order necessary parts through the operations manager.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend machine life.
  • Maintain inventory of wear-and-tear parts at warehouses, customer facilities, and service vehicles.
  • Train customer personnel on machine operation and cleaning procedures.
  • Document inspections, repairs, recommendations and maintenance activities accurately.
  • Rebuild packaging machinery during downtime.
  • Support productivity, safety, quality, and cost goals in daily work activities.
  • Serve as a resource for other mechanics to resolve complex issues.
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times.
  • High level of maturity and confidence necessary to interact with sophisticated internal and external clients
  • Strong leadership and customer service skills with the ability to ensure that a high level of service and quality is maintained
  • Product knowledge with clear technical understanding of services to be able to effectively communicate to customer
  • Excellent project management, organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding attention to detail, flexibility and creativity 
  • Persistence coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment, work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality of shared information and/or assignments

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of mechanical service experience preferred.
  • GED is required, high school diploma preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 1-2 months at a time) across Eastern U.S
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, PLCs, pneumatics, and electrical troubleshooting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in the field.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays during peak seasons.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and professional appearance.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport; clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to walk and stand on concrete or uneven surfaces for 8–12 hours/day.
