Job Summary: 


The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for setting strategic goals while ensuring that their retail sales objectives are executed with their specific customers. This individual will be tasked with managing brokers and developing a nurturing strategic customer relationship that helps create consistent and sustainable volume growth, while achieving assigned Company profitability targets. 


Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities: 



  • Cultivates and maintains strong relationships with all customers in the assigned region through in-person meetings, Microsoft Teams sessions, and phone conversations, establishing trust with all buyers.

  • Achieves top-line sales volume and return on sales targets.

  • Oversees, guides, and motivates broker resources to achieve shared goals.

  • Develops creative sales presentations using customer-specific data, syndicated data, brand marketing information, and other resources for customer meetings.

  • Identifies opportunities and secures new product distributions in accounts through store visits, competitive research, and customer meetings.

  • Designs account-specific trade programs and pricing, adhering to agreed-upon Business Development guidelines, to meet the Company’s volume and profit objectives.

  • Confirms promotional plans with customers and maintains customer trade programs in the trade management system, TELUS.

  • Manages and follows up on customer deductions, collaborating with the sales finance team to maintain deduction balances within acceptable levels.

  • Communicates with the customer service team regarding orders and potential shortages or transportation issues, resolving any customer problems or concerns.

  • Completes and submits weekly sales reports.

  • Maintains trade accrual budgets and rates to ensure delivery of agreed-upon net sales rates.

  • Submits volume estimates for all new business, lost business, and volume changes.

  • Attends customer meetings and trade shows to stay updated on annual plans, developments, and changes.

  • Actively participates and collaborates in Retail Regional Team planning sessions.

  • Keeps informed on the status of the meat category and competitors.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



  • Excellent written & verbal communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Established history of fostering strong relationships with customers, brokers, and vendors.

  • Thorough understanding of the entire sales cycle, particularly within the food processing industry.

  • Capability to analyze and interpret syndicated (ex. Circana) and insights data effectively.

  • Skilled in analyzing sales performance data to formulate actionable recommendations related to pricing, merchandising, and distribution.

  • Demonstrated success in executing strategic plans to drive sales volume and margin growth.

  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and engage with stakeholders across all levels of the organization to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Experienced in sales planning, forecasting, and execution, showcasing a track record of success.

  • Firm Knowledge of the products and the competition within a give category. 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.), TELUS Trade Tool, and SAP or other ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems. 


Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of sales experience is required.

  • Background in managing and cultivating broker relationships.

  • Prior work experience in industries such as Manufacturing, Food Manufacturing, or Retail is preferred. 


Working Conditions:   



  • Work is performed in an office environment with telephones, personal computers, and printers. 

  • The noise level of the environment is usually moderate.

  • Sedentary position, when not traveling with seldom to occasional lifting of less than 25 pounds.

  • May require standing less than or equal to 1/3 of the day.

  • Ability to collaborate virtually with stakeholders across multiple time zones. 

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% of the time. Inclusive of travel overnight.
