Job Description

We are looking for an Enterprise Data Architect for an 11-month contract opportunity that is hybrid in Trenton, NJ. The Enterprise Data Architect will analyze the data needs of the systems and databases and uses skills in coding to maintain secure databases. They then collect and organize the data obtained into structured data models. Additionally, using mathematical and statistical theory methods they present findings to management which are then used to improve various initiatives within the client’s systems. The candidate selected will meet with business teams and determine the best methods to gather the information required.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct Current State Assessment of Data Systems

  • Define System of Record and Data Dictionary for Data Systems Develop Enterprise Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data Models

  • Creates and builds Conceptual, Logical and Physical Models

  • Facilitates Business Sessions and validates business taxonomy and use cases aligned to data models

  • Provide initial design solution for core data model as well as for additional upcoming data sources and required models supporting

  • Support Project Needs to design Conceptual Logical and Physical Models to Modernization Efforts

  • Define the architecture from Conceptual, Logical to Physical layers. Provide solution expertise to cross functional delivery teams

  • Providearchitecturethoughtleadershipandactivelyparticipateinthedesign, implementation, and roll-out efforts

  • Develop and maintain Conceptual, logical and physical data models using best practices and standards to ensure high data quality, reduced data redundancy, and good query performance

  • Reverse and forward engineer data models in Erwin or other Data Modeling Tools

  • Optimize and update Conceptual, logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects and ensure business users are working in a clean safe data environment

  • Assisting the creation of best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models

  • Coordinate activities with the rest of the EDL team including developers and testers; Assisting promoting data base objects from lower to higher environments

  • Lead design reviews of data models and other relevant metadata to ensure consistency, quality, accuracy and integrity

  • Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new projects

  • Consult with Database Administrators concerning the creation of physical data schema from the logical model by making recommendations, designing referential integrity, and ensuring business requirements are satisfied

  • Consult with ETL developers, report developers, end users concerning how to use the database as designed and how to navigate efficiently within the database

  • Guide System Analysts, Engineers, Programmers and others on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces, and system integration challenges and solutions.

  • Mentor team members on all aspects of Data Modeling

What You’ll Need

Required:

  • 15+ years of experience in Business/IT working as a Data Architect, Data Modeler, Data Analyst and/or Business Process Support Associate

  • Expertise in Data Modeling, Solution Architecture, Master Data Management (MDM), Business Process

  • Analysis/Engineering, Business Requirements Gathering and Systems Analysis in State, Local Government and Public Sector Domains

  • Expertise in one or more Data Modeling Tools

  • Experienced in working with different Software Development Methodologies

  • Proficient in, NoSQL, Relational, MDM and Canonical Data Modeling

  • Extensive Knowledge of Data Management Principles

  • Extensive Knowledge of Master Data Management Principles

  • Knowledge of Data Governance Concepts

  • Knowledge of Data Engineering Methodologies

  • Knowledge of Data Engineering

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor
