Check fuel levels, transfer equipment, steam pressure, water levels, valves, pumps, etc. to ensure proper and safe operations. Conduct boiler water analysis using standard test methods. Clean and make general repairs to boilers and other related equipment. Lead plant preventative maintenance program. Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting for production and plant equipment to prevent and/or correct breakdowns.Principal Accountabilities (list in order of importance and indicate percentage of time spent on each)Operate all equipment necessary to maintain the steam and cooling supply to plant as instructed in operating procedures.Perform repair maintenance on boilers and boiler room systems including but not limited to, RTO, steam and condensate systems, or directed by the Supervisor.Adhere to the State Boiler Operating Code & City of Milwaukee Ordinances.Maintain data as specified on log sheets or computer files or described in operating procedures including rounds performed once per 8 hour shift.Lead in establishing plant preventive maintenance (PM) program and execute PM tasks of all equipment with in 2 business days (regardless of work schedule) as assigned by Maintenance Planning system or Supervisor.Ability to perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting for production and plant equipment to prevent and/or correct breakdowns.Lead in enhancing equipment by improving effectiveness of PM program by implementing one improvement a quarter.Recommend and implement continuous improvement on equipment and systems through individual projects and involvement in at least one plant team (safety, energy, capital, etc).Maintain and update current Maintenance Planning system including: documenting of work performed, documenting corrective actions that result as part of work, correct verbage to properly account work performed as part of PM, combine, delete, or add PM's as needed, establish spare parts list for PM's.Perform and coordinate all lubrication of plant equipment as specified by Maintenance Planning system and work instructions.Clean and sanitize all tools as needed for maintenance or as directed by operating procedures. Keep work areas orderly at all times both in shop and on plant floor.Assist other facilities technicians as a safety watch or other duties as assigned by lead.Communicate problems or unusual conditions with Lead. Communicate downtime, potential issues, and optimization ideas through Lead and DDS board as appropriate.Communicate in writing with the relieving technician as to the condition work and operation and any unusual circumstances.Follow safety precautions as directed in the operating procedures, Job Safety Analysis, Material Safety Data Sheets, or as directed by the Lead. Two years of Power Engineering and Mechanical experience desired.Knowledge, skills and abilities required:Passing score on administered Mechanical Aptitude testing.Position requires demonstrated knowledge and applicable experience in maintenance of a production, manufacturing or distribution fields, preferably in the food-processing environment.Strong communication and organizational skills.Willingness to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.Able to effectively work in a cross functional team.Working ConditionsMust be able to lift 50lbs, use personal fall protection to work elevated heights, wear a respirator, enter confined spaces, and meet multiple demands in a timely basis. Must be able to work in all weather conditions and all work shifts in addition to some seasonal overtime.
