Principal Accountabilities
- Open product packages using approved tools (handy hook opener) following proper technique to avoid injury.
- Ensure raw material is staged, opened, and ready for the assigned production line.Maintain a maximum of 15 pieces of primal on the opening table at any time to prevent overcrowding.
- Dump raw material onto the table or conveyor in accordance with workflow and safety guidelines.
- Ensure product is available consistently for the Pacer and downstream operators such as saw operators, Grasselli operators, and knife workers.Communicate product type or changes to the line coach to support effective workflow.
- Open and handle products to prevent edible surfaces from contacting outer packaging.
- Dispose of waste plastic properly without contacting inedible containers.Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workstation at all times.
- Clean the opening table, removing meat and fat into correct silver buggies or inedible containers.
- Empty purge buckets/lugs into designated inedible barrels.Gather and store ergo stands for the line.
- Clean and sanitize empty gondolas and return them to proper storage areas.
- Always wear required PPE including white gloves on nondominant hand, clear safety goggles, steel toe boots, hard hat, and hearing protection.
- Follow ergonomic tips to minimize strain, including proper lifting, posture, and minimizing repetitive movement.
- Report workstation hazards immediately and practice safe walking and working behaviors.
- Ensure no equipment is serviced without proper LOTO training.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong awareness of safety, ergonomics, and food safety practices.
- Communication skills to coordinate with Pacers, operators, and line coaches.
- Physical ability to lift, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
