As a Corporate Counsel your responsibilities will be:
- Provide sound legal counsel in areas specific to contract negotiation, employee relations, external communications, intellectual property and some regulatory related issues
- Curate and review legal documentation that protect and support the company's interests while adhering to corporate compliance laws
- Work closely with the Human Resources team on issues related to employee performance, workplace concerns, ethics and compliance issues and all other welfare related programs
- Review, update and oversee the company policies on legal affairs as the company attorney
- In conjunction with the V.P. and General Counsel, guide the management team and stakeholders on legal directions of the Company
- Undertake and perform in-depth legal research for partnerships, mergers, acquisitions and other transactions
- Stay abreast of changes in the external marketplace that could have an impact on issues related to the Company's interest, develop a point of view and proactively advise
A strong Corporate Counsel will possess:
- Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor
- Active member of the Illinois State Bar Association
- 5+ years of corporate law experience with focus on contracts, employee relations and knowledge of IP and/or regulatory law
- Comprehensive understanding of corporate law
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- Ability to influence across all levels of the organization
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to hear multiple points of view and willingness to act in a decisive manner
