Description:

Canopy Village Foundation Development Manager is responsible for donor engagement, grant management, logistics planning, social media, and volunteer program management. The position is expected to take initiative and work independently while also serving as part of a team. Some local travel, weekend and evening work may be required. Strong communication, diplomacy and relationship skills are critical. Must be able to effectively communicate the mission, values, impact and needs of the organization in a compelling manner, inspiring and persuading others to actively engage. Must be comfortable with managing multiple projects/duties, changing priorities, deadlines and accountability.

Requirements:

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Two years of related experience required
  • Thorough understanding of fundraising fundamentals
  • Proven track record of increasing fundraising revenue and growing donor engagements
  • Experience with professional social media management
  • Maintain attention to details
  • Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent diplomatic skills
  • Ability to organize and establish objectives and priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experienced and/or willing to learn Salesforce CRM for all tracking of role and responsibilities, including but not limited to grant timelines, donor notes, campaigns, etc.

Licensures/Certifications:


  • First Aid/CPR certified preferred
  • Hold a valid driver's license

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Comfortable spending time with diverse individuals, including affluent donors
  • Confident in asking for financial contributions
  • Ability to remain impartial to strong and diverse perspectives and opinions


Donor Relations

  • Cultivate strong relationships with new and existing donors to ensure they feel connected, engaged, impactful and informed
  • Apply a principal-based approach to the stewardship of donors, ensuring sustainability and increased financial support
  • Develop a dynamic referral network for introductions to prospective new donors
  • Identify, engage and secure the support of prospective new donors in partnership with Chief Executive Officer
  • Oversee donor acknowledgement program, including Moves Management program through Salesforce with phone calls, handwritten cards and electronic communications
  • Assist with the development and execution of a Planned Giving program


Events

  • Plan and direct logistics of annual July Benefit Auction. Duties include full management of live and silent auction and details within, scheduling and assigning all responsibilities, ensuring all timelines are met, resource coordination, event setup, day of event activities and event follow up, acknowledgements and reporting
  • Development Manager will work in partnership with CEO for sponsorships and table sales
  • Plan and direct logistics and sponsorships of fall signature event as applicable
  • Oversee 3rd Party Events program, including direct participation in larger events and resource allocation and oversight of smaller events. Duties include solicitation of new events, scheduling, marketing, relationship management, acknowledgements, accounting and reporting through Salesforce


Campaigns/Appeals

  • In partnership with CEO, develop and execute three (3) annual direct mail appeals. Duties include content creation, letter generation, mailing, tracking, reporting and acknowledgements.
  • Direct or coordinate web-based fundraising activities such as online auctions or donation web sites through Mobile Cause online giving tool


Grants

  • Assist with the execution of the grant program. Duties include assisting in the preparation of grant applications and ensuring reporting requirements are met. Development Manager will own the timeline management and will coordinate with CEO for writing, tracking and reporting through Salesforce and the grantors


Social Media & Website

  • Create, manage and maintain social calendar through Instagram and Facebook, including but not limited to content creation, posting, conversation management, responses to inquiries, and giving campaigns
  • Maintain and update website with weekly giving lists, campaigns, holidays, events, volunteer calendar, etc.


Community Engagement

  • In partnership with CEO, Development Manager will serve as the external ambassador for the organization, actively engaging with community and business leaders, government officials, civic organizations, churches and service providers to enhance awareness of the organization's Mission, activities and needs
  • Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to inform and engage prospective donors as assigned by CEO and/or community
  • Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships

General

  • In partnership with CEO, assist with the creation and oversight of the annual development plan
  • Monitor progress of fundraising efforts throughout the year and prompt meetings, etc. to enhance progress of efforts
  • Provide monthly written performance reports and analysis
  • Enter all relevant interactions in donor database Salesforce
  • Assist with donor acknowledgements through Salesforce
  • Respond to donor inquiries in a timely fashion
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and assignments as directed by the CEO
  • Other duties as assigned
