The City of Grand Island, Nebraska, is looking for a qualified candidate to fill their Enterprise and Systems Administrator position. The Enterprise and Systems Administrator is a professional level position that performs specialized tasks related to enterprise software applications, their underlying databases and other applications specific to the area of assignment, balancing individual and organizational responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for support and maintenance of large-scale computer systems, programs and applications that impact critical department or enterprise operations, functions and services.

Implement large or complex computer software applications; design, configure and test system software; troubleshoot user software problems.

Responsible for overall application system administration activities for the department, such as development, installation, upgrades, modifications, data integrity, security, technical support and troubleshooting. Evaluate current procedures and recommend changes and improvements.

Analyze on-going problems and recommend courses of action to address problems. Maintain a close working relationship with vendors to identify and solve problems with software systems. Troubleshoot problems and make corrective changes to existing configurations through consultation with vendor. Attend user meetings with vendors as needed.

Utilize reporting tools to write and maintain a variety of reports or queries to support business functions and aid in decision making practices. Develop standard reports for ongoing department needs and ad hoc queries as needed, working with department staff to identify information requirements.

Participate in the development of overall department goals, objectives and priorities for the implementation or upgrade of systems; prepare and present strategic technology plans; ensure that strategic plans are consistent with broader organizational plans, initiatives, policies, and priorities.

Develop an advanced knowledge of department business functions, information needs and workflows to plan, design and propose changes and improvements to internal systems.

Assist with the analysis of user needs and develop system requirements.

Provide and coordinate user training and support; develop documentation for user manuals and employee onboarding.

Assist in planning, designing, and implementing application databases, maintaining security and user access. Design, create, and maintain physical objects including tables, files, libraries and indexes to support department computer applications using database management systems.

Work with confidential and protected data.

Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Supplemental Information:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Five (5) years of responsible system management, computer system configuration, system data analysis, system project implementation, or related experience.

Training:

A Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, information technology, or an information technology related field.

License or Certification:

Employee must possess a valid driver s license and maintain insurability as determined by the City's insurance carrier.

Working Hours:

Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; dependent upon department needs.
