Clean Harbors in Fort McMurray, AB is looking for a Hazardous Waste Specialist (known internally as an Insite Chemist) to join their safety conscious team on-site at Suncor Base Plant! The successful candidate will be responsible for working both indoors and outdoors, assisting with daily lab packages at our customer facility. Additional responsibilities include the loading, packaging and segregation of materials and waste products, completion of Health & Safety plans, conducting projects according to regulations while following company policies and procedures and assisting in the safe and compliant execution of assigned lab pack projects.

Schedule: 10 on, 10 off schedule. 12-hour workdays.
Camp accommodations available - must live in Alberta.

- Responsible for the safe and compliant execution of lab pack projects/jobs and the proper packaging of material/waste and off-spec.’s of commercial products.
- Maintains excellent customer relations.
- Ensure drum count is correct and that drum conditions are shippable in accordance with the policies and procedures
- Conduct projects/jobs according to site specific Federal, State and local regulations and health and safety plans as well as Company policies and procedures
- Print required labels and labels drums and assure driver of an expedient pick-up. Load/pack materials/waste properly and segregate for compatibility the waste material on transport vehicle.
- Operates mobile equipment as required (class 3 license)
- Understand customer specific disposal requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency at a wide variety of assignments and can direct personnel in operational procedures to complete assignments.
- Reports work-related accidents and incidents to supervision in a timely manner.
- Other duties as required.
- 3-5 Years experience of Hazardous Waste Management.
- Class 3 License is a requirement.
- Comfortable working on a 10 on, 10 off schedule.
- Post Secondary Training in chemistry, biology, geology, or other natural science preferred.
