Laborer

Clean Harbors in Fort McMurray, AB is seeking a Laborer to join their safety conscious team on-site at Syncrude. They will be responsible for performing basic labor tasks (both indoors and outdoors), assisting operators, chemists and other associates with pre/post trip inspections, equipment maintenance/set up, and general duties required to complete work, such as debris removal, clean up, set up, etc.

Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts (6am – 6pm). 10 days on, 10 days off schedule.

• Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
• Using hand tools (shovel, rake, vacuum hose, and pressure washers etc.).
• Assist the operator with all job duties: Pre/Post Trip inspections; performing field level risk assessments; equipment set up; proper usage of equipment
• Complete basic equipment and tool maintenance, including basic repairs
• Examine and repair, as needed, all equipment upon arrival at the branch office, and identify them appropriately (requires R&M, ready for shipment) as required
• Conduct yard inventory, daily completion of the Shop Cleaning Checklist to ensure the shop always remains clean and tidy
• Perform general duties required to complete work, such as debris removal, clean up, set up, etc.
• Operate a variety of equipment, such as forklifts.
• Complete general shop work including washing equipment and parts pickup and delivery.

• Class 5 Driver’s License required.
• Forklift license required.
• Ability to work both day and night shifts.
• Experience assisting operators on vacuum trucks and/or heavy equipment highly preferred.
• Previous industrial/waste handling experience is a strong asset.
• Ability to lift 50lbs regularly throughout the day.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time.
