The I&E Technician II (Programming Focus) will be responsible for instrumentation, electrical maintenance, and PLC programming in an industrial setting. This role requires both hands-on fieldwork and programming responsibilities, ensuring the smooth operation of control systems. Candidates should have a combination of education and hands-on experience with PLCs, motor controls, and industrial instrumentation.

  • Perform instrument calibration and troubleshooting (4-20mA, pressure transmitters, flow meters).
  • Assist with PLC programming, DCS configurations, and troubleshooting for process control systems.
  • Conduct electrical system maintenance (480V AC/DC) and motor control diagnostics.
  • Work alongside the main programmer to gain hands-on experience with control system design and implementation.
  • Support plant operations by responding to control system issues and troubleshooting instrumentation failures.
  • Participate in hands-on fieldwork, ensuring that programming solutions translate effectively into real-world applications.
  • Follow all safety and environmental guidelines while performing job duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Education: Associate’s degree in Automation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field OR minimum of 3 years of industrial experience in control systems and instrumentation.
  • PLC Experience: Basic to intermediate knowledge of ladder logic, industrial control systems, and troubleshooting. Experience with ABB, Allen Bradley, or similar PLC systems preferred.
  • Electrical Knowledge: Hands-on experience with motor controls, VFDs, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Industrial Instrumentation: Familiarity with calibration, installation, and troubleshooting of process control equipment.
  • Fieldwork Readiness: This is not a purely programming role—the candidate must be comfortable working in the field, diagnosing issues, and making hands-on repairs.
  • Preferred Industry Experience: Candidates from refineries, chemical plants, power plants, or manufacturing environments are strongly preferred.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Familiarity with CEMS, Thermo Fisher, Yokogawa, or Emerson control systems is a plus.
  • NCCER certification, journeyman electrician license, or other industry-recognized instrumentation certifications preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with a proactive and hands-on approach.
