Assistant Safety Superintendent Job Summary


We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Safety Superintendent to join our team. Reporting directly to the Safety Superintendent, this role will assist in overseeing and promoting a safe working environment across our shipyard operations. The Assistant Safety Superintendent will play a key role in implementing safety programs, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.


Assistant Safety Superintendent Responsibilities



  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs to promote a safe work environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and areas for improvement.
  • Support incident investigation and root cause analysis processes, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on safety protocols, equipment usage, and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, as well as company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and supervisors to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Maintain safety records and documentation, including incident reports, inspection findings, and training records.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and initiatives to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Assistant Safety Superintendent Position Requirements



  • 5 years of safety experience in the marine repair/construction industry preferable
  • OSHA 10-hour maritime, construction or general industry certification
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred
  • EM-385-1-1 certification preferred
  • First Aid / CPR certification 
  • Confined Space Competent Person certification preferred
  • Ability to effectively operate office equipment, to include desktop computers, calculators, printers, copy machines and telephones
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
  • Valid State of Hawaii drivers’ license in good standing
