Contracts Specialist- EPC, Renewable Energy

Active Solar Development (ASD) is an experienced and rapidly growing Community Solar Development and Engineering, Procurement and Construction company based out of Malta, NY. We work throughout NYS, NJ, MD, DE, and PA. We are a leading company in the Renewable Energy/EPC industry, committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to power our future. About the Role:


The Contracts Specialist will be responsible for managing and overseeing the contractual aspects of our EPC Solar projects. This role involves drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing contracts to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract management, with specific experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in solar projects.


Key Responsibilities:

- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including EPC agreements, subcontracts, purchase orders, and other related documents.

- Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, legal regulations, and industry standards, including those specific to renewable energy and solar projects.

- Manage contract lifecycle from initiation to closeout, including contract modifications, claims management, and dispute resolution.

- Collaborate with project managers, legal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure contract terms are clear, enforceable, and aligned with project goals.

- Monitor contract performance, ensuring that all parties fulfill their contractual obligations.

- Provide guidance and support on contractual matters to project teams and other departments.

- Assist in the development and maintenance of contract templates, standards, and procedures to enhance contract management efficiency.

- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in contract management, particularly within the solar and renewable energy sectors.

- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Inflation Reduction Act, Davis-Bacon Act, and other applicable federal and state regulations.

- Support risk management efforts by identifying potential contractual risks and recommending mitigation strategies.

Requirements:

Desired Qualifications:

Education: JD, MBA, MS in law or related field. Bachelor's may be considered with highly aligned experience.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in EPC contract management, preferably in renewable energy and/or solar space.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of contract law, construction contracts, and risk management principles. Experience with solar and renewable energy projects, including knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards. Familiarity with Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), NYSERDA and other State requirements.

Excellent project management and organizational skills.

Strong communication, negotiation and teamwork abilities, highly collaborative

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Ability to work onsite in Malta, NY Monday-Friday

Unrestricted work authorization for the US and high written and verbal English proficiency


Compensation:

The likely compensation range for this position is $80,000-$100,000 plus a discretionary bonus based on individual and business performance. Your actual salary may be above, in, or below this range, depending on your qualifications and experience.
