Controller

CV Resources is assisting our client, a long-established and family-owned multimedia company in Portland, OR, in their search for a Controller. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the finance and accounting functions within a close-knit, family-oriented organization. Role Overview:
The Controller is a key leadership position reporting directly to the President. This dual role involves both day-to-day accounting management and strategic financial planning. You will lead the accounting team, oversee monthly closings, manage forecasts and budgets, and provide critical financial guidance to senior leadership and the Board.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the accurate and timely monthly close of financial books, preparing key financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for senior leadership and the Board.
• Lead the creation and management of the annual budget, along with periodic quarterly forecasts, to support senior management in making data-driven, profitable decisions.
• Regularly analyze operational and profitability metrics, providing actionable insights and strategic financial guidance to the President, Board, and senior leadership.
• Partner with an external accounting firm for annual financial statement reviews and ensure compliance with necessary financial processes, providing the Board and bank with required documentation.
• Oversee the biannual physical inventory checks, ensuring proper reporting of all materials and supplies.
• Lead the investment committee, manage the annual 401(k) audit, and ensure proper filing of all relevant tax forms.
• Supervise general ledger account reconciliations, manage the commission tracking and payment processes, and oversee accounts payable functions.

Qualifications:

• Must Have: 4-5+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance leadership roles, with a strong command of Excel (Intermediate to Advanced).
• Nice to Have: CPA, CMA, or MBA designation; background in public accounting; or a dual background in accounting and finance.
