Duties * You will administer contracts between Navy and Electric Boat Corporation for the design, construction and repair of nuclear submarines. * You will be the on-site leader for the design of ship conversion and modernization programs, other assigned design projects. * You will serve on technical and management Integrated Process Teams (IPTs) to influence the technical evolution of the design. * You will assure consistency and continuity in the overall approach to ship design, construction and program requirements. * You will work collaboratively to focus on and prioritize critical customer actions, when often the personnel assets needed to meet all demands may not be available. * You will act as a technical expert for matters relating to Testing of a wide range of submarine systems during New Construction and Overhaul availabilities of SSNs, SSBNs and SSGNs. * You will keep supervisors-advised of the impact of emergent work and on the effect of changes in workload on the program. * You will provide information to the supervisors to ensure continuity of department management focus in the identification and mitigation of technical risk. * You will establish and maintain effective working relationships with team personnel, recommending actions to supervisors and when directed to make adjustments or compromise in order to support program goals. * You will provide performance input to division heads for evaluation of team members. * You will provide advice and counsel to employees on assigned project matters to assist the team in accomplishing work. * You will review, analyze, research, prepare correspondence, recommend corrective action, consult with the contractor and participate in conference pertaining to design, deficiencies. * You will determine the technical adequacy of engineering recommendations provided by contractors. * You will act as a consultant, provide engineering recommendations and aid in the form of technical comments and conference representation for the division manager in connection with design, construction and testing. * You will confer with representatives of NAVSEA and the contractor or subcontractors relative to the design, operation and arrangement of cognizant items, recommending improvement in design, operation or methods to be used in fabrication. * You will serve as the SUPSHIP representative on the contractor's IPTs, facilitating the identification and mitigation of design, construction and program process risks, while monitoring team progress in achieving ARTEMIS scheduling products. * You will develop training tools for engineering personnel. * You will act as a technical expert for matters relating to the design and construction of HME submarine systems including: Weapon Handling Cradles, Missile Tubes, Masts, Periscopes, Antennas, Countermeasure Launchers, Anchor Handling, and Capstan. * You will act as a technical expert for matters relating to the design and construction of HME submarine systems including: All Towed Array and Buoyant Cable/Wire Handling systems, Trash Disposal/Compactor Unit and Hatches and Watertight Closures. * You will act as a technical expert for matters relating to the design and construction of HME submarine systems including: Torpedo/Weapons Handling and associated structure, Torpedo Tubes, and Vertical/Horizontal Launch Systems.
