Duties You will serve as the subject matter expert regarding all communications systems, executing the duties of an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO). The work includes analysis, design, fielding, and supporting of Coast Guard and District management information, telecommunication, and phone systems with a focus on those supporting and improving Coast Guard operations. Typical work assignments include: * Communicating daily with Coast Guard (CG) field units and staff elements to discuss all communication related matters. * Managing C4IT-related Share Point site development and upkeep. * Directing and/or conducting special studies that include analyzing communication processes and project workflow. * Designing and developing business processes to utilize technology systems and applications to improve work flow and increase productivity. * Advising project managers and supervisors on the latest hardware, software, and communications developments and their possible impact on operations. * Serving as the District Classified Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance. * Coordinating, monitoring, setting priorities, and providing status reports on projects, incidents, and routine work performed by the DT functional area. * Analyzing existing communication systems and networks, and preparing recommendations including costs and benefits of alternative approaches and their effect on Coast Guard Operations. * Serving as C4IT Division funds management responsible for spend plan development and current year spend plan execution. Qualifications Qualifications for GS-12: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level is required. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
