Duties This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Intelligence and serves as a branch chief within a Division. The position provides second-level supervision and direction for the activities of the division of Intelligence Research Specialists, as well as administrative and technical support personnel. This position starts at a salary of $136,832.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $177,885.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $177,885 (GS-14 Step 10). Major duties and responsibilities in this position include but are not limited to: * Developing national policies and strategies relating to intelligence requirement/operations. Recommending the revision or modification of office wide policies, regulations and procedures to reflect current realities. * Assuring that methods are devised to monitor and regulate intelligence efforts in the field to provide national conformity. Ensuring that control measures are established to provide necessary management feedback on the quality of intelligence efforts. * Planning and developing branch programs including new IT systems, technical strategies for improving intelligence efforts, and assuring their consistent and equitable application. Determining and prioritizing office goals and areas of program emphasis in conjunction with higher level management. * Developing overall program objectives and operational guidelines ensuring that necessary changes are fully integrated and communicated across assigned programs within the immediate office, throughout the Office of Intelligence, across CBP offices and with other federal agencies. Qualifications Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: * Closing intelligence gaps by identifying intelligence requirements that resulted in organizational successes. * Serving as a senior level analyst or project leader by participating in the production of specialized intelligence initiatives or reports to present and effectively argue the intelligence position regarding national security matters such as terrorism, counterintelligence, transnational organized crime, illicit drug, illicit travel, migration, economic security, illicit trade. * Conducting studies, preparing intelligence reports, and delivering briefings to stakeholders at all levels to enhance understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. * Representing the organization on working groups and committees. * Contributing to the short- and long-term planning through in-depth research and analysis regarding mission objectives. Selectees are required to attend and successfully complete the Intelligence Foundations Course, Systems Exploitation Training and CBP Intelligence Support to Operations Course. The training is a formalized course of required basic technical instruction that must be successfully completed according to the standards of Customs and Border Protection, CBP. Failure to successfully complete the required course of training in accordance with these standards and policies will be grounds for removal from the position. Leadership Training: All newly appointed first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment.
